TV Cowboys, Western Heroes: Wild Bill Hickok is 171 years old today

From PopArtDiva.com

Today is Wild Bill Hickok's birthday, he was born on May 27th, 1837. I did a Pop Art of Wild Bill Hickok and also a Pop Art of Bat Masterson some time ago, so naturally I started humming the old tv theme to Bat Masterson, lol.

This brought to mind all those old cowboy shows I used to watch on television like The Lone Ranger, Gunsmoke, Have Gun Will Travel, The Rifleman, Bonanza and The Gene Autrey Show and, of course, Happy Trails from the Roy Rogers Show. I don't know about you but I remember all these themes - they're etched into my head's hard drive - I remember most of the words to all and all of the words to most, lol.

So, join me on a Happy Trail down the Memory Lane of Cowboys, Bad Guys, Shoot-em Ups and Western Soap Operas from the good old days:

My dad was really into these old westerns, but I've seen only a couple of episodes. I'm not sure why I just could never get into the genre. . .but I do know the theme songs, LOL!

Journeywoman - I know, it was a great show and theme - remember Paladin's business card? It had a chess knight with Have Gun Will Travel over it then just below it said "Wire Paladin, San Francisco".

Carleen - when I was growing up I was kind of forced to watch because we only had one tv, so whatever my folks watched I watched. But I did like them anyway!
