Old School Friday - Greatest Retro Music Nostalgia

This week's Old School Friday is "Greatest of all time". Oh come on Marva! Greatest what? Greatest rocker, greatest R&B, greatest Peggy Lee Female Impersonator??? You really are going to give me a chance to mess with this theme aren't ya??? Okay, here goes - Greatest of the greatest old school, nostalgia style, retro music, musicians, bands, groups, fakers & the ones I listen to all the bloody time:

GROUP OF ALL TIME: What are you crazy? THE BEATLES! When I'm 64 - because I'm getting awfullllly close (crap!):

SURFIN' MUSIC: The Beach Boys - They rocked then, they rock now, they're dudes, dude! Fun, Fun, Fun - because they just were! (Man, they were young in the 60s, but then so as I.)

OLD STYLE ROCKER: Jerry Lee Lewis - Didn't like him but I loved his music! Great Balls of Fire - Because I get to say "balls" and because it is goodness gracious great!

BEST CRUISIN' MUSIC: Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR) - because these were the guys who dominated my 8-track in the sixties and Green River because I finally wore it out and had to get it again.

RETRO BAD BOY: Jim Morrison of The Doors, The Lizard King, Mojo Rising King of nasty, sexy, hot - black - leather pants - hormonal - teenybopper dreams: Why Light My Fire? Because he did!

MUSIC FROM A GENERATION OTHER THAN MINE: Swing, Big Band, Crooners - because this was the music my mom and I listened to and the music she taught me to dance to: In The Mood - My favorite swing tune and one I'm always in the mood for.

GIRL GROUP: I cheated here because a) I can't pick and b) this video was too retro cool. I'm such a rebel but I'll make you happy baby!

GREATEST SHOWMANSHIP: KISS - Yes, I posted this before but it's just too great to miss - KISS and That 70's Show together? It's a retro two-fer. Dedicated to the days when I did rock and roll all night - the 70s!

I could go on and on and on but the page would never load BUT. . . .one more just for you, MsMahvehlus and The OSF clan (hehehehehehehe):

  1. Pop Art Diva, you are such a rebel! Wasn't it hard to just choose one? OMG.

These videos were great. I loved the tribute to the girl groups and that Michael West song set to "Fever."

  2. It is impossible to narrow it down to 1...but I did. I'm saddened that I'm aware of artist you posted lol Great choices and Happy OSF day!

Au Naturale ( Bria of U Betta Recognize

  3. I couldn't choose just one either. But from your list, I will take the Beatles. They kind of set off the whole popular music culture or at least sent it to new levels when they first appeared in the U.S. I believe on the Ed Sullivan show.

  4. I'll go with the Beach Boys and the Doors. I couldn't even begin to narrow it down to one so I understand your dilemma. :)

  5. Hey guys, thanks for stopping by. You know I usually comment back individually but I got company coming this weekend and I'm behind on my personal grooming, lol.

Why does everyone call all on the same day when you have other things to do???

Anyway, glad you all liked the post and my bratitude (again).

    Happy OSF!

  6. Diva, There you go breaking the rules :-) You chose some great artists. I am with Rev, nobody does it better than the Beatles. Happy OSF!

  7. I am a rule breaker - wish I'd been a heart breaker instead but, oh well!

  8. The Beatles for me. I even dressed up as a Beatle once for Mardi Gras as a kid. LOL.

One think I appreciate about them is their evolution as artist of increasing substance.

    Happy OSF!

  9. Verite - Yes, I still love listening to The Beatles, always have.

  10. Great blog and very good collection of videos.I saw a lot of inspireation here.I think these kind of blogs are very useful for the users.Especially for those who is wanted learning some thing.
