OLD SCHOOL FRIDAYS - Girl Groups of the Sixties

When I think of girl group pop singers I naturally go back to the greats from my youth - The Shirelles, The Ronettes, Martha and The Vandellas, The Crystals, The Chiffons and, of course, The Shangri-Las. These are those groups and the songs I loved most. Not a complete list of course, but some that were my favorites!

The Shirelles - Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow:

The Ronettes - Be My Baby:

Martha and the Vandellas - Dancing in the Street:

The Crystals with the Classic Da Doo Ron Ron:

The Chiffons - One Fine Day

The Shangri Las - Leader of the Pack:

  3. Thank you, Ms. Pop Art Diva!

These are all my favorite groups--but you know that since you interviewed me. Besides have wonderful lyrics and melodies, the songs all had "a great beat and you could dance to it!"

  5. Even though I've seen photos of them and heard their music countless times, this was the first time I ever saw a performance by The Crystals. I was bopping all through that performance!

I remember seeing the Shangri-Las clip that you posted a few years ago. Who knew that Robert Goulet was the Leader of the Pack?
